COVID Update: CentacareCQ staff wearing masks as a precaution only

CentacareCQ is closely monitoring the news coming out of Brisbane regarding the potential hotspot, in addition to the contact tracing underway in the Gladstone region.

Mask Use

Following the advice and guidelines from the Government Department of Health, from Tuesday 30th March, all CentacareCQ staff will be required to wear masks whilst in the offices around the region.

This is purely a precautionary measure and does not indicate an increase of infections in our area. For some this may be the first time you have seen this level of mask use in our communities and we empathise with any feelings of worry and anxiety you may experience, but ask for your understanding at this time.

In certain circumstances, clients may also be asked to wear a mask. If the client does not have their own mask, one will be provided to them.

These circumstances include:

  • Attending social group activity sessions
  • Using CentacareCQ’s transport services
  • Attending a meeting of more than four people at a CentacareCQ office

We are monitoring the situation carefully and will provide updates on services as information becomes available. Currently all services are in operation and we want to take this opportunity encourage care and vigilance. These are precautionary measures and want to actively reassure clients that there is no need to panic.

CentacareCQ Transport Services Advice:

We are aware that getting into a car with a masked person can be a source of concern for our clients. To assist with your peace of mind, please note that the vast majority of CentacareCQ vehicles are branded with our logo and in some cases, the Family Relationship Centre Logo. If you feel worried or at all unsure about getting into a car, please call the office on 1300 523 985 and our team will be able to confirm both the driver and the car registration as being of CentacareCQ origin.

Are you or is someone in your house sick?

If you or someone in your household is sick please let us know. Our drivers and support staff will take extra steps to ensure your service is still conducted in a manner that doesn’t expose you or them to risk.
